Kaya has been part of the Scheffer Group for over three years, and when asked what she loves most about working here, her answer came quickly: “the food’s better.” Her passion for cooking started early, learning from her grandmother, a true Southern cook who taught her that if you can read, you can cook.
At Gan Shan, Kaya’s favorite dish to prepare is fried rice, though her fondest childhood memory is making Brunswick Stew with her grandma over an open fire. When it comes to eating, she cannot resist fried chicken from Bojangles, and at home, she is a proud cat mom to two mischievous orange cats.
We love Kaya for her humor, her heart, and for making the kind of fried rice you definitely want to share.
